Historical fragments collected for you

V.L. Telegdi, CERN and Caltech

During my life as an active physicist, the study of history had been an active hobby. It has thereafter become my main interest and pastime. The purpose of my talk is to present to you a few fragments that you may find surprising and amusing. Specifically, I shall discuss (1) Einstein’s one and only experimental research, (2) Schrödinger’s similar venture (no gendanken cat!), (3) Dirac’s experimental idea and his subsequent war-time work, (4) Feynman’s invention of a patented cloth-cutting machine.
