Is evolution understood? Quantitative questions from a statistical mechanic

Daniel S. Fisher, Professor of Physics and Applied Physics, Harvard University

Although the underlying laws of evolution have been known for more than a century, and there is overwhelming evidence from phenotypic and genomic data for phylogenies, remarkably little is understood about the dynamics of evolution. The focus of this colloquium will be on quantitative
questions about evolutionary dynamics and prospects for theoretical and experimental progress on some of these.
