Quantum Field Theory for the LHC
Aneesh Manohar, Professor of Physics, University of California, San Diego
Experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will test the Higgs mechanism for electroweak symmetry breaking, and look for deviations from standard model predictions as a signal for new physics. The computation of experimentally measurable cross-sections requires putting together many different theoretical ideas developed over the last 25 years. I will summarize some of the methods, show how they were useful in recent B decay experiments, and how they are being applied to the LHC.
